At Dubai National School Al Twar , student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that a nurturing and supportive environment is essential for academic success and personal growth. Our holistic approach to wellbeing focuses on the emotional, social, mental, and physical health of each student, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and empowered throughout their educational journey.
Through a variety of programs, counseling services, and inclusive practices, we are committed to fostering a school culture where every student thrives with confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging.
The DNS learning community acknowledges that applying positive education is a key factor in enhancing students’ wellbeing. Hence, a strong focus on the value of individual wellbeing is significantly highlighted to improve their chances of developing resilience, pro-social behavior, learning outcomes, and a more positive future.
The DNS learning community has adopted the World Health Organization’s definition of wellbeing, believing that in our context, it is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, rather than merely the absence of disease or infirmity. The DNS community adheres to the belief that fostering a positive sense of belonging and equipping students with the skills to make informed, healthy choices that support learning and achievement is best achieved in a safe and accepting environment for all students. Connectedness to parents and staff is identified as a significant intervention for authentic student involvement and a supportive setting for positive behavior.
At Dubai National School Al Twar, we adopt a whole-school approach to wellbeing. This approach involves every member of our school community—students, parents, teachers, and staff—working collaboratively to enhance key areas of school life that influence wellbeing.
By embedding wellbeing into every aspect of school culture, we aim to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where students can thrive. This method has been shown globally to lead to:
At Dubai National School Al Twar, safeguarding is not just a policy— it is a foundational commitment woven into every aspect of school life. We are dedicated to creating a secure, nurturing environment where all students feel protected, valued, and empowered to thrive.
Our approach to safeguarding ensures that:
In alignment with the UAE’s national commitment to child protection, DNS fully upholds Wadeema’s Law—the UAE Child Rights Law, enacted in June 2016. This comprehensive law protects children from all forms of abuse, including physical, emotional, and sexual harm, as well as neglect, exploitation, human trafficking, and extremist influence.
All school staff are legally and ethically required to report any concerns regarding a student’s welfare. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is entrusted with ensuring full compliance with UAE law, acting swiftly and decisively in the best interest of each child.
Together, as a school community, we stand united in safeguarding every student’s right to safety, dignity, and opportunity.
